What We Do

At The Jane and Finch Financial Advocacy and Problem Solving (FAPS) program we offer FREE:

  • One-to-one support for financial issues and concerns
  • General and specialized workshops on financial topics of interest
  • Income tax filing throughout the whole year

Three  examples of workshops were offer for free at different locations, including schools, community centres, and  libraries, include:

How to effectively manage the money you have. At the end of our workshop you will be able to define money and how to control it by:

  • Naming and performing the four steps to building a budget
  • Explaining the budget planning process
  • Learning to save for short and long term financial goals

CREDIT AND YOU

Learning about credit and how to use it wisely.  At the end of our workshop, you will be able to define credit and how to control it by:

  • Understanding your responsibility when dealing with credit
  • How to research your own credit rating
  • Learn tips to get out of a “Credit Crunch”

BANKING SERVICES

Understanding the basics! At the end of our workshop you will be able to:

  • Determine what type of bank account meets your needs and be aware of the associated costs
  • Identify and use some of the basic savings options available to you
  • Become more familiar with the banking services available in Canada
